Hurunui Campgrounds

Development of 8 community operated campgrounds in the Hurunui District of the South Island. Funded by the Hurunui District Council and The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employments Tourism Infrastructure Fund, the upgrades include pay to use showers, laundry, caravan power, boom gates as well as security and internet upgrades.

National Park Village Park & Ride Facility

National Park Village is home to the Park and Ride Facility – a hub for parking and transport for visitors walking the Tongariro Crossing. The site is host to a KiwiCamp facility with all the amenities needed to stay overnight and support visitors to the National Park

Waihi Beach KiwiCamp

Built in 2018, KiwiCamp Waihi Beach is a great example of a facility that reduces the impacts of freedom camping in small communities while providing needed services to the community. Popular with locals and travelers alike, the site offers low-cost laundry, showers and cooking facilities. 

KiwiCamp Hokitika

Ngati Waewae are the proud owners of KiwiCamp Hokitika, the first KiwiCamp to be built in and downtown location. The site is a hub for travellers exploring Hokitika and the greater West Coast area. It is central to a long-term vision to create a network of facilities around the South Island of New Zealand
